What began as casual weekly conversations with our head of Corporate Social Responsibility quickly became a solid DEI role, both as liaison between our CSR and Creative/Marketing team, and as a partner on inclusive leadership training.


  • Sustainability Report

    Michelle was highlighted in the 2020 Steve Madden Sustainability Report for her work in establishing the company’s first ERG and laying the groundwork for those to follow (p16). It also made mention of the DEI Council and the partnership with Amber Hikes which Michelle brought to the company (p15).

    In the 2021 Steve Madden sustainability report, Michelle’s work was highlighted again (p 17-18).

  • Diversity and Inclusion Certification for Management Training

    Michelle received a grant from the company to complete Cornell’s Diversity & Inclusion certification course which gave her the additional skills and knowledge required to support the company’s DEI training efforts across all divisions. Her first action was to meet with leadership in her own department to share some key takeaways.
